Community First Bancshares, Inc. is the parent organization for Newton Federal Bank. Community First Bancshares, Inc. was formed in 2017 as part of Newton Federal Bankâs mutual holding company reorganization. Community First Bancshares MHC is the mutual holding company- parent of Community First Bancshares, Inc., and owns 54% of Community First Bancshares, Inc.âs common stock. The corporate headquarters is located in Covington, Georgia.
Prior to the reorganization, Newton Federal Bank operated as a federally chartered mutual savings association headquartered in Covington, Georgia. Newton Federal Bank was originally chartered in 1928 as a Georgia-chartered mutual building and loan association under the name Newton County Building and Loan Association. In 1947, we changed our name to âNewton Federal Savings and Loan Association.â In 2004 we changed our name to âNewton Federal Bank.â
