Sierra Bancorp is the registered bank holding company for Bank of the Sierra. It has been the Bankâs sole shareholder since August 2001. Bank of the Sierra opened for business in January 1978 and has grown to be the largest independent bank headquartered in Californiaâs South San Joaquin Valley. The community-centric regional bank offers a full range of retail and commercial banking services through branches in the counties of Tulare, Kern, Fresno, Kings, Ventura, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Los Angeles. The Bank also maintains an online branch, and provides specialized lending services through an agricultural credit center and an SBA center. Most of the Bankâs growth has been organic, but it also includes four acquisitions: Sierra National Bank (2000), Santa Clara Valley Bank (2014), Coast National Bank (2016), and Ojai Community Bank (2017). In 2018, Bank of the Sierra was recognized as one of the strongest and top-performing community banks in the country, with a 5-star rating from Bauer Financial and a Sm-All Star award from Sandler OâNeill.
