The York Water Company, the oldest investor-owned water utility in the United States, has functioned continuously since 1816. The Company is engaged in the business of impounding, purifying and distributing water within its franchised territory, and is regulated by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission. The Company serves an estimated population of 190,000 through approximately 66,000 service connections. The Company serves 48 municipalities, located in south-central Pennsylvania, 40 miles north of Baltimore, Maryland.
