Boeing’s board of directors has reorganized corporate leadership, transferring the corporate chairmanship to David Calhoun to serve as a non-executive chairman. Dennis Muilenburg, formerly both chairman and chief executive officer will continue as CEO to focus on bringing 737 MAX back to commercial service and resuming full production.

Calhoun said, "The board has full confidence in Dennis as CEO and believes this division of labor will enable maximum focus on running the business with the board playing an active oversight role. The board also plans in the near term to name a new director with deep safety experience and expertise to serve on the board and its newly established Aerospace Safety Committee."

Muilenburg indicated that he supported the board’s decision and would focus on returning the 737 MAX to service.
