In the latest effort to persuade governments to take action against climate issues, the Guardian newspaper announced they will stop accepting advertisements from oil and gas companies.

The newspaper previously announced its decision to stop using ‘climate change’ and instead use phrases like ‘climate emergency’ and ‘climate crisis.’ The Guardian’s decision to halt ads from the oil and gas industry showcases their corporate social responsibility efforts.

Anna Bateson & Hamish Nicklin, Guardian executives, explain "Our decision is based on the decades-long efforts by many in that industry to prevent meaningful climate action by governments around the world.”
