Sales of existing homes [increased in August by 2.6%](https://www.inman.com/2019/09/19/existing-home-sales-climb-for-2nd-straight-month-nar/) from the same period a year ago, according to the National Association of Realtors (NAR). While sales volume increased, so did prices which were up by 4.7% versus a year ago.

Lawrence Yun, chief economist at the NAR said in a statement, “As expected, buyers are finding it hard to resist the current (mortgage) rates”.
