Existing-Home Sales Increase by 2.6% Due to Low Mortgage Interest Rates

Sales of existing homes increased in August by 2.6% from the same period a year ago, according to the National Association of Realtors (NAR). While sales volume increased, so did prices which were up by 4.7% versus a year ago.

Lawrence Yun, chief economist at the NAR said in a statement, “As expected, buyers are finding it hard to resist the current (mortgage) rates”.
