Federal Reserve to Lower Interest Rates for the First Time in 10-Years

The U.S. Central Bank will lower interest rates by 25 basis points at its policy meeting later this month. This cautious action reflects a global move toward monetary easing. Moreover, it is in response to tepid global growth, trade disputes and stubbornly low inflation that is threatening the economy. 

According to John Williams, the President of the New York Fed, “(it) pays to act quickly to lower rates at the first signs of economic distress.”
