Foreclosures Up in October But Down Substantially for the Year

Foreclosures were up 14% in October from the month before but down 17% from a year ago, according to ATTOM Data Solutions, a leading provider of real estate information. The reason for the monthly percentage increase is due, in part, because September’s foreclosures were the lowest since 2005.

Todd Teta, chief product officer at ATTOM Data Solutions cited another reason for the increase, “…October’s numbers tend to increase as lenders may be pushing filings through the pipeline before the holiday season.”
