Existing home sales [declined by 2.2% in September](https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-economy-housing/u-s-existing-home-sales-drop-more-then-expected-in-september-idUSKBN1X11OQ) reversing two straight months of gains in July and August, according to the National Association of Realtors (NAR). Prices continue to rise, up 5.9% as compared to a year ago. 

Lawrence Yun, Chief Economist at the NAR noted, “We had hoped increases would be in line with wage increases…but that wasn’t the case.”
