Builders increased the construction of entry-level priced homes resulting in an [8% decline in the median price of new homes](https://magazine.realtor/daily-news/2019/10/25/new-home-prices-fall-as-builders-expand-price-range), according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The number of new homes that sold for under $200,000 doubled in September vs. a year ago. 

According to Robert Dietz, the chief economists at the National Association of Home Builders, “The industry is experiencing a slow inventory shift to more affordable housing.”
