New-Home Prices Decline Dramatically Due to Increased Construction of Lower Priced Homes

Builders increased the construction of entry-level priced homes resulting in an 8% decline in the median price of new homes, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The number of new homes that sold for under $200,000 doubled in September vs. a year ago. 

According to Robert Dietz, the chief economists at the National Association of Home Builders, “The industry is experiencing a slow inventory shift to more affordable housing.”
