Statewide Rent Control Becomes Law in California

    Responding to California’s housing affordability crisis, Governor Gavin Newsom signed into law statewide rent control in the country’s most populous state. It limits rent increases to 5% a year, plus inflation, and will protect 17-million renters from being evicted without cause.
