Data breaches and cybersecurity attacks in 2019 amounted to a $4 Billion dollar cost to the healthcare industry

More than 41% of the healthcare industry experienced a security breach in the past year, more than any other industry in 2019. 

 Out-of-date or unsupported software along with maintenance tracking on critical medical devices, such as pacemakers, have led to an increase in cybercrime incidents in the healthcare industry. Financial incentives for updating medical devices is a key policy that needs to be addressed to mitigate patient risk.
