Attacks on healthcare organizations have [increased since 2016](https://www.forbes.com/sites/leemathews/2020/02/16/ransomware-damage-to-us-healthcare-industry-passes-150-million-in-four-years/#67611f6b6d7e), putting hospitals and patient records at risk.

Over 1,400 healthcare organizations have been impacted by ransomware attacks, with hospitals and clinics representing 75% of those affected. In addition, the attacks impacted over 6.6 million patient clinical records.
