SpaceX founder, Elon Musk, explained why he believes the era of the U.S. Air Force fighters is over.
Speaking at an annual Air Warfare Symposium, Musk said, “The really dangerous future is autonomous drone warfare.”
He also feels the Lockheed Martin F-35 should have a drone competitor. He later explained via Twitter, “The competitor should be a drone fighter plane that’s remote-controlled by a human, but with its maneuvers augmented by autonomy. The F-35 would have no chance against it.”
Musk also warned that the U.S. does must invest heavily in space or it will fall behind adversaries. He also expressed his opinion that establishing a Space Force was a step in the right direction.
