In an effort to restore confidence in its operations and financial performance, American Airlines is making major changes in its top management structure. To begin, AA’s senior VP of “Customer Experience,” will retire, followed by the implementation of new VPs of operations, network strategy, revenue, and marketing. These changes in structure will also affect the reporting lines of a number of other executives.

American Airlines’ president Robert Isom said in a release, “This is an opportunity to sharpen our focus on the key parts of our airline: running a reliable operation, expanding the world’s best network, maximizing all aspects of revenue to ensure American thrives forever and delivering a superior customer journey as we create a world-class customer experience.” He added, “This restructure puts innovative and extremely capable leaders at the forefront of these initiatives.”

AA management also expects the Boeing 737 MAX issues to cost the airlines an estimated $140 million.
