A new joint venture, called Wisk, partnering Kitty Hawk, developer of several eVOTL (electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing) aircraft and Boeing Aircraft was announced earlier this week. The initial objective of the joint venture is to develop and bring to market, Kitty Hawk’s Cora eVTOL.
Cora has been the focus of Kitty Hawk’s current development efforts; Kitty Hawk has been working with Zephyr Airworks (New Zealand). Little is known about the Cora program, although speculation suggests it will be a two-seat, all-electric, autonomous aircraft.
Reports indicate that the aircraft has undergone 700 or more flight tests, using three prototype aircraft.
According to Boeing spokesman, there will be “no further comment, for now, about either the ownership structure of the new joint venture or the status of the Cora program.”
The Wisk program will be headquartered in Mountain View, California.
