Boeing stock slumped to an eight-week low after a Boeing pilot revealed that he had warned the FAA about problems with the 737 Max flight-control program. In a message released Friday, he said he “unknowingly” lied to regulators, telling them to “not include the system in the pilot’s operating manuals.”

Mark Forkner, Boeing’s former chief 737 technical pilot said in 2016, “It’s running rampant in the sim (simulator) on me.” His colleague replied that they would have to update the description of the system.

In a statement released by Forkner, he said, “So I basically lied to regulators (unknowingly).”

The FAA said they were “disappointed that Boeing did not bring this document to our attention immediately upon its discovery,” adding it is “reviewing this information to determine what action is appropriate.”
