If the Bulgarian government and the United States can agree on a price, Lockheed Martin’s Greenville facility in South Carolina will deliver eight F-16 aircrafts, six single-seat fighters and two two-seat fighters that can be used for both aerial defense and training new F-16 pilots.

The F-16s will replace aging Soviet Mig 29s. The deal is estimated to be worth $1.3 billion, although some negotiations are to be expected.

Lockheed Martin spokesperson Leslie Farmer told the Upstate Business Journal, “It is premature to speculate on production and delivery,” but the aerospace and defense company anticipates the new Greenville location will supply the Bulgarian government with the F-16 Block-70 fighter jet.

Lockheed Martin recently transferred F-16 production from Dallas, Texas to Greenville, South Carolina.
