With an eye toward the projected demand for professional airline pilots over the next 20 years, Cirrus aircraft announced the production of the TRAC series of training aircraft, based on their successful SR-20 general aviation aircraft.
Zean Nielsen, CEO at Cirrus Aircraft said, “Our commitment to flight training goes far beyond innovation in aircraft design to include a unique approach to attracting and training future generations of aviators. The TRAC Series delivers a 21st-century solution for world-class, forward-thinking flight training institutions.”
Although a fixed landing gear aircraft, the TRAC trainer includes a landing gear operation simulator to prepare pilots for more complex aircraft. The four-seat aircraft is a mini-classroom. Students in the back seats observe, listen, and can communicate with the instructor during instructional flights.
Like other Cirrus aircraft, the TRAC trainer features a durable all-composite airframe structure with the signature Cirrus Airframe Parachute System® (CAPS®) that lowers the aircraft to the ground in an emergency.
