Supersonic Airliner Prototype to be Tested in 2020

Boom Supersonic is partnering with Flight Research Inc., to begin planning of a flight test program for Boom’s XB-1 supersonic demonstrator aircraft. Flight testing is expected late in 2020, and Boom expects testing to demonstrate its technology that will lead to for the production of commercially viable supersonic commercial airliners. 

Flight testing will flow from the Mojave Air and Spaceport. The T-38 will also be used to trail the XB-1 during test flights. Flight testing will take place in the airspace over the Mojave Desert that is specifically set aside for supersonic test flights.
