Women in Aviation International (WAI), in cooperation with the University of Nebraska at Omaha, conducted two studies in an attempt to identify gaps in employment for women in aviation

Dr. Becky Lutte, Associate Professor at the university worked with WAI to develop the studies.

According to the WAI, “Both sets of results allow the industry to identify and target the areas where women are most underrepresented, to better understand why women pursue a career in aviation, why they stay in the industry, and how the industry can build a more diverse and inclusive workforce.”

Study results can guide aviation companies can guide recruitment and retention strategies.

The studies also identified factors that attract women to aviation as well as several negative factors.
