In its race to be one of the first passenger-carrying autonomous rotorcraft services, Volocopter is already planning its infrastructure. The VoloCity will carry two passengers at 70 miles per hour nearly 22 miles in what will be an autonomous air vehicle. The VoloCity is a fourth-generation eVTOL aircraft. Volocopter has built and is testing three prototype aircraft. This small fleet has completed more than 1,000 test flights.
Tests have demonstrated that the aircraft meets European Aviation Safety Agency safety requirements. Volocopter says they have reached the point in their development where they are working with cities to develop air traffic control procedures and terminals. They are also in discussions with cities about providing commuter services to major airports.
The VoloCity air vehicle has 18 electrically powered rotors that provide lift and directional control.
