GM and VW Ditch Hybrids for Fully Electric Vehicles

GM and VW are phasing out hybrid vehicles to make room for more fully electric vehicles.

GM and VW both intend to shift from hybrid vehicles to electric cars in order to meet increasingly stringent fleetwide emissions standards. There is some concern about how this approach will impact costs, as GM stopped producing the Chevrolet Volt last year due to concerns over its retail cost.

"Our strong preference is to go all-in where the market is heading, as opposed to hybrids as a way to hedge our bets," Volkswagen CEO Scott Keogh told the Wall Street Journal.
