Saudi Arabia’s national oil operator Aramco is reportedly almost finished with expansion work on the East-West Pipeline. The company expects to wrap up the project in September, an unnamed source close to the matter told Reuters on July 24.
The pipeline's throughput capacity will rise from 5 million barrels per day to 7 million bpd once Aramco completes the expansion scheme.
The extra 2 million bpd of export capacity will come in handy if Iran continues to stoke tension with the West through gambits such as attacks on oil tankers in the Persian Gulf.
