Thinking Small in the North Sea

Conventional oil and gas producers working in the North Sea are taking a cue from US shale producers and showing more interest in short-cycle development.

Weak oil prices have dampened investors’ enthusiasm for large-scale projects that take years to start production.

Short-cycle projects are easier to support in the North Sea than in other regions, since there is infrastructure in place to support economical options such as tie-backs.
