Amazon Moves Into Healthcare with Alexa Prescriptions

One year after purchasing online pharmacy PillPack, Amazon is working to integrate prescription refills into Alexa smart device functionality.

Amazon appears to be making a serious foray into healthcare with Amazon Care. Last month, the company added to its healthcare portfolio with the acquisition of Health Navigator, a startup that creates software for internet healthcare services. Amazon also recently entered into a joint venture with JP Morgan and Berkshire Hathaway launched to lower the costs of healthcare for the companies’ workers.

“As we say at Amazon, it’s still Day 1 for Alexa and healthcare—we look forward to continuing to innovate on behalf of customers,” wrote Alexa’s Rachel Jiang in a blog post announcing the new integration.
