The video game company will start construction on the first of its name-branded hotels in Phoenix, Arizona in early fall.
Atari’s hotel chain will feature spaces where guests can experience virtual and augmented reality, as well as studios for streaming esports and other games. The hotel rooms will be inspired by video gaming in history and science fiction, and gaming consoles are readily available. After Phoenix, Atari plans to open hotels in Las Vegas, Denver, Chicago, Austin, Seattle, San Francisco, and San Jose.
Shelly Murphy, CEO of GSD Group, said GSD partner Napoleon Smith III suggested one day, "I wonder what Atari is doing... 'how cool would it be to stay in an Atari hotel?'"
