Huawei Joins the Mobile OS Fray with Harmony Launch

Huawei takes a big step away from reliance on Android and launches its own operating system.

HarmonyOS is still in the concept stage, but the Trump Administration’s recent ban on Huawei products threatened the Chinese manufacturer’s relationship with its OS provider.  Huawei’s new mobile operating system is competing with offerings from Samsung, Microsoft, and Mozilla to snag market share currently dominated by iPhone and Android.

According to Hauwei’s official Twitter account, “#HarmonyOS is built with a deterministic latency engine that gives a smooth interactive experience. That means latency is at a minimum; bringing fluid interactive experience to the maximum.”
