Huawei, the Chinese tech giant currently banned from doing business in the United States, is coming up with novel ways of replacing U.S. technology

Huawei smartphones are not permitted to use any Google applications due to current trade restrictions, so the Chinese company is developing its own hardware and software to replace U.S. imports. Most recently, Huawei announced it has found a replacement for Google Maps using technology from the Netherlands-based TomTom. New workarounds like this are expected to continue as Huawei continues to be barred from using any Google apps or services.
