Microsoft Teams, the tech giant’s teamworking and communication app, hit over 20 million active daily users this week, up over 50% since July.
Microsoft Teams increased daily active users from 14 million to 20 million in the past six months, pulling further ahead of the platform’s main competitor, Slack. Following Microsoft’s announcement, Slack’s share slid nearly 10%, closing down at 8.4% on the day of the release. Slack maintains around 12 million daily active users, but the company’s share price is down more than 18% since its initial public offering in June.
“Slack continues to see unmatched engagement on our platform with 5+ billion weekly actions, including 1+ billion mobile actions,” a Slack spokesperson told CNBC in an email on Tuesday.
