Based on current forecasts, the world’s fleet of passenger and freighter aircraft is expected to more than double by 2038. The projected fleet is expected to exceed 47,000 aircraft, more than 39,000 of which will be new aircraft.
Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Airbus International said, “The 4% annual growth reflects the resilient nature of aviation, weathering short term economic shocks and geopolitical disturbances. Economies thrive on air transportation. People and goods want to connect. Globally, commercial aviation stimulates GDP growth and supports 65 million livelihoods.”
Airbus sees itself as a market leader in all major categories of transport aircraft, from small, short-haul aircraft to long-range international heavy transports in both passenger and freight configurations.
