The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will start handing out the next round of waivers from ethanol content requirements to U.S. refinery operators by the end of August. Most refiners oppose the ethanol mandates, which are part of the government’s Renewable Fuel Standards (RFS) program.
During a visit to Monroe Energy’s refinery in Trainer, Delaware, EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler said Washington would begin taking action on this front within the “next few weeks [or a] month at the most.”
The EPA hopes to wrap the process up before the end of November, he added.
